Divine Series Book 2: Destiny (Excerpt)

Hi all,
Just a little teaser/taste of my upcoming short in the current series.  It should be up sometime this weekend I am told (Amazon and Barnes and Noble). Enjoy!

“Are you coming?”
Desi looked up from the book she was reading to find her sister Chloe standing at the foot of her bed.  She wore a practically sheer white camisole that barely reached the apex of her thigh and accented her tall curvy figure.  Her dark wavy hair fell loosely around her shoulders and down her back, her sea green eyes bore intently onto Desi’s face waiting for an answer.  “I am not really feeling it tonight sis,” Desi replied and went back to reading her book.  She was talking about the sister’s weekly orgy that they had with their servants and worshipers in their massive common room.
The Greek Pantheon was known for their care free sexuality and exploits but she was quickly growing bored with the repetitive life that was hers.  Desi, short for Destiny, was an upper level Fate in the Olympic pantheon.  She and her sisters governed the threads of life.  The higher fates were a set of three sisters named Chloe, Leah, and Desi. You may know them as the Moirae, Graea, or the three witches that writer described them as in one of his tragedies. They were not too happy about that one. True the sisters were scary and you would NEVER want to cross them but they were far from ugly and the stories of their appearance were greatly exaggerated.
It goes without saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Chloe was the sister that spun a person’s thread of life. She was the friendliest of the three and reminds you of the girl in school that everyone wanted to befriend. She was tall in height and curvy in figure. She wasn’t exactly drop dead beautiful but she was no dog either.  Leah was quiet sister. She spent a lot of time in contemplation and you would always wonder what she was thinking. She didn’t venture out much or speak to others but you guess that kind of came with the territory. She was the one that determined how long a person’s life thread should be so getting close to people did kind of have its drawback. Tall like her sister the similarity ends there. Instead of dark wavy hair she had fire red hair and deep sea green eyes that sat above a slightly round nose. She often wore her hair pulled back in one long French braid. She was eloquently pretty and struck one as being the silent artist type.
Lastly there was Desi, the fiery busty brown eyed bitch of the three. Desi’s specific job task was the cutter of the thread of life.  She was the one that determined how and when a person’s life would end.  It was a morbid task and after thousands of years it was definitely starting to play with her outlook and mood.  Every day it was the same thing, meaningless sex, ending life for millions of people, meaningless sex, oh and ending life for millions of people.  Desi liked sex but, sex with emotionless obligation and no fulfillment were not worth the time and energy to commit to daily ritual.  She was expected to take many lovers as it was an unwritten rule of the Greek Gods but being surrounded by so much death made her long for life and excitement.  She would often have to resort to interfering with mortal lives and watching the chaos from her sphere to keep herself entertained.  She figured if she couldn’t actually be there at least she could live vicariously through them.
